Artist's Statement

Sometimes I get to imagining that I will someday go too far in my cartoons and be questioned or reprimanded by mean, scary men in suits representing The Government. I realize this is ridiculous; people like cartoonists are only persecuted in shaky little third-world dictatorships where free speech is still perceived as a potential threat. Here in the U.S. we know better. Nobody in Washington gives a shit what a cartoonist in some alternative weekly says about them. Still, I drew this cartoon thinking it might be a good epitaph to run in the event of my detainment/ disapprearance/ assassination. Then, on second thought (and because I had an early deadline) I decided to run it right away.
